Here's what we've been up to lately....

 

September 2001

St. Cloud, MN saw its first Regional Transportation Expo. Greg and Hoyce spend many hours with the planning committee to assure the success of the Expo. Over 150 students from Vocational programs attended to learn more about the opportunities in transportation. 

August 2001

Greg Langford became Secretary for the MInnesota Trucking Association. Way to go, Greg. Dust off your notebook and sharpen your pencil!

September 2000

After several years as active members of the MId-Central Minnesota Traffic Club, both Joyce and Greg Langford were voted on to the Board of Directors. This responsibility comes with a lot of fun, too. The club sponsors guest speakers and tours through out the year and is a great way to keep in touch with colleagues in the industry.


August 2000 - 

Greg Langford was boted on the the Executive Board of Directors for the Minnesota Trucking Association while attending the annual convention. This year's convention focused on the tough issues facing truckers today. Senator Rod Grams and Congressman Colin Peterson were on hand for the Congressional Forums. 


March 2000 - 

Jody Dirckx submitted a winning essay for the Leadership Conference held in St. Paul, MN by the MTA. The conference was packed with seminars, workshops and a trip to the State Capitol. Congratulations, Jody!


October 27th 1999 - 

We, here at Langford Inc, hosted a discussion forum for MTA members and guests to discuss upcoming legislative agenda and the direction MTA will be taking in the legislative session in Minnesota.   

 
September 20th 1999 -

   JCL Inc. joined with the Kiwanas Club to help raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation by
attending a Golfing fund raiser on September 20th.  


September-November 1999 -

Our office staff are attending seminars sponsored by the Department of Transportation to keep up to date on current and new issues regarding Driver Qualifications, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Log Auditing and Hours of Service.

August 25th-28th 1999 -

Greg and Joyce attended the MTA Convention in Alexandria, MN.  Highlighting the convention, Julie Cirillo the program manager for the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Motor Carrier and Highway Safety, discussed Hours of Service and other issues that are of concern for MTA members.  During the convention the Board of Directors were voted in and the MTA elected it's first woman chair, and our own Greg Langford won a seat on the board.

August 20th 1999 -

Greg golfed with the MTA in Grand Rapids, MN at the Sugarbay Lodge and met with Congressman Jim Oberstar to discuss transportation issues ranging from a proposal moving  through Congress that gives trucking its own modal administration within the DOT to  the effects of a new OSHA ergonomic standard on trucking.  Greg was commended in the August MTA's Trucking Minnesota newsletter for participating in the event and helping keep open the lines of communication with Congressman Oberstar who is the ranking minority member on the House Transportation Committee.


April 29th 1999 -

Greg attended a Road Rage Summit in Minneapolis put on by the Minnesota Trucking Association and AAA Iowa/Minnesota.  This conference dealt with how to handle the anger and aggressive acts that lead to road rage.  Also discussed were the legal and insurance consequences of aggressive driving and road rage.  (To see more about the Road Rage Summit you can visit the Minnesota Trucking Association page.)  The conference sparked a phenomenal amount of media coverage, KARE-TV 11, KFAN-AM, WCCO-AM and KBEM-FM were among some of the stations who conducted interviews regarding the Road Rage Summit. The event generated an amazing seventeen  television stories the day of the event (YES! Greg was on TV!), coverage on Minnesota Public Radio (KNOW-FM) and Minnesota News Network, and print articles in the Star Tribune and the Pioneer Press.  Following is a picture of Greg that appeared in the May 1999 edition of MTA's monthly publication taken while lunching with some other MTA members at the Road Rage Summit.
